I grew up in a rural town in Missouri that refused to add fluoride to their water supply for fear of a communist plot to render our precious bodily fluids useless. With a mouth full of silver fillings, I moved to the mountains of North Carolina to attend Appalachian State University, a small liberal arts school with an amazing football team and political science department. After graduating, I taught at a young women’s prison before returning back to ASU to achieve a master’s degree political science. Subsequent to the completion of my MA, I took a one year full-time lecturer position at ASU and then moved to Knoxville to achieve a Ph.D. in political science. Four years later I took a teaching position at Ball State University, where I currently remain.
My passions include music, food and politics. I’m a dedicated Widespread Panic fan, having seen 95 shows across the United States. I’m also a fan of underground hip hop, particularly avant-guard artists like those found on the Anticon record label.
I am a blogger because I’m narcissistic. I do not operate under the false impression that anyone will actually read my self-absorbed ramblings. I’m just trying to put it all together.
